Hello, I’m delighted to welcome you to these pages!

Very early in my medical career, I decided to dedicate my professional life to the spine and back, and to the treatment of pain. So these topics have been the central theme running through my entire life as a surgeon who provides advice and treatment for patients and families, as well as through my scientific career and activities in teaching and educating young doctors, students, and therapists.

During my own education and training, I was fortunate to be able to learn from very experienced, outstanding teachers and surgeons who were distinguished both professionally and personally. They taught me to appreciate and understand the complexity of the spine and back, and how to diagnose and treat pain, whether conservatively or surgically. I was trained in the fields of neurosurgery, orthopedics, trauma surgery, and pain medicine. In my current position as Head and Director of the Orthopedic University Hospital at the Katholisches Klinikum Bochum (Bochum Catholic Hospital) in Germany, it is now a privilege for me to be able to apply this knowledge and skill in advising and treating patients and families and in educating and training students, colleagues, and therapists.

I would like to explain in these pages what I am personally able to do for you, along with my team of orthopedic and trauma spine surgeons, neurosurgical spine surgeons, pain specialists, anesthesiologists, specialists in spinal bracing, physiotherapists, psychologists, occupational therapy specialists, and staff. We work in close cooperation here with the departments of pediatrics, medicine, vascular surgery, radiology, radiation therapy, microbiology, intensive-care medicine and anesthesiology.
